In your opinion, what is a hero? What qualities does a hero have? Why
do some people need heroes? Why don't others seem to have heroes? Who
does society seem to label as heroes and why? Do you have a hero? Who?
A hero is someone who inspires you to be a better person. A hero is that better person. For me, a hero is someone I strive to be like. Everyone has their own personal heroes, we don't all want to be or do the same thing. I think if someone doesn't have a hero, they just haven't met the right person yet. There has to be someone out there who you look up to and are inspired by. Life without a hero would be scary for me. Think about it, what if all those people didn't have Superman as their hero? What would they do? Who would they count on. While it's a little far fetched to be a superhero, you could easily be a hero. Actually, I'm going to take that back. It's not easy to be someone's hero. Think of all the qualities you think a hero should have. Now think of yourself. Do you have all those qualities?
Society seems to label heroes as people who make these huge changes in the world. People who find a cure for a disease or give clothes to kids who don't have any. Don't get me wrong, those people are absolutely, totally, completely heroes. What I'm saying is you don't have to do all that to be a hero.
My sister is my hero. She's my half-sister, actually. She's 20 years older than me. She's everything I want to be. I look up to her entirely and she's an inspiration to almost everyone she meets.
In my opinion, a hero is someone who one or more people aspire to. A hero is an individual who has traits or qualities that people enjoy. Some heroes are superheroes, such as Batman or Superman. I think that most heroes have qualities such as bravery, intelligence, kindness, generosity. Some people need heroes because they don't have anywhere else to turn. They need someone to look up to, to lean on, to work hard and be like. Society today labels many different kinds of heroes. They label the heroic superheroes, like Iron Man, or Superman, or Spiderman. Also, they label those such as war veterans, essentially anyone who has done a service to our (a) country or group. I have many heroes, all for different reasons. Winslow Homer, a great artist, for his artistic talent and motivation to keep on going, for example. Heroes are people we look up to, admire, and respect.
A hero is someone who is looked up to. They must be charismatic, and at least appear to be a good person, although they aren't always. Some people need heroes to tell them how to act and feel in certain situations, one good example of a hero in this regard is religion. People who believe in a higher power look to that power as something to teach them how to act, in other words, a hero. Some people don't have heroes because they don't need to be told how to act, or don't want to listen to the advice of others. Society seems to label people who do good things heroes, but those same heroes are almost never treated as well as they treat others. In the end, people like Taylor Swift are the ones children look up to as role models and heroes, so they never learn what they really need to learn. I do not have a hero, because I believe that if everyone followed the same path as another person the human race would never get anywhere.
-Hannah Goldstein- A hero is a leader, or a silent leader that helps save a person, place, or thing, from something bad that might happen. A hero either prevents bad things from happening, or saves the situation in the moment. People need heros to look up to, as a good influence for decisions and the way of life that they live. Heros make many things positive in a negative time. Other people may not need heros because they are confident enough with themselves that they don't need anyone else to look up to. In reality EVERYONE has a hero regardless of if they say it out loud, or are aware of it. Society seems to label people as heros when there is a huge outcome of an action. For example, for my sister's Bat Mitzvah project she gathered sports equipment and we brought it to a youth village in Israel. The organization considered her a hero because she is so young yet making a significant difference in many kids lives due to her donation. I consider my dad a hero in my life because I look up to him more then anyone. Whether he knows it or not, I always look to him for help with decisions on anything and advice. I can always think of something to say to him, and hope for a response. When I grow up, I want to be just like him.. I know that might sound little-kid-like, but it's reality. I'm always comparing myself to him, and looking to see what I can do to be more like him. It's embarrassing but true.
A hero is portrayed as the savior, a martyr, the distinguished one. Yet, all heroes have a downfall, because every single hero has that flaw. A simple thing that drives them to the end of their time. I personally do not have a hero because they always fall. Some people rely on someone as their hero, because they need someone to help themselves drive toward their motives. A false hope. Someone that they will never be, but it seems to give a glimmer of light in a dark world.
A hero is someone or something that people look up to, someone that they can use as a role model. A hero has a variety of qualities, for it only depends on the person. This hero can have a quality from anywhere being able to fly, to just being a nice person. Many people don't have heroes and thats good, for they can be taking charge of their own life, attempting to achieve his/her life goals independently, for they are not looking up to someone to be they are looking at themselves and being who they want to be. Although, many or most people need heroes, without them they might have chosen the wrong path to take in life, and they need someone to look up to, to keep them going on the right path. Society seems to lable heroes from the classic super heroes to basically any popular celebrity everyone wants to be, and that is what as hero is ( someone people want to be, someone people look up to). I personally have many heroes, possibly to many, but I don't think of them as much as most people, for I want to create my own lifestyle not copy off someone else's.
A hero is someone who puts others in front of themselves, who risks something of their own for the benefit of another being (or greater cause). Heroes usually need courage to stand up, and some people depend on them when they can't stand up themselves. Some just need a hero to look up to, to think "What would they do?" when a challenge lies ahead. Others are independent, able to take care of themselves and not needing someone to depend on or look to in times of trouble.
Real heroes in society are usually the ones that stand up for a greater cause, or for the benefit of their nation. There are many activists out there in our country who could be considered a hero. For example, someone who dedicates years of their life to preserving the environment, and/or protecting endangered species. A hero could also be someone with a plan. Some may call Barack Obama a hero, while others may criticize his decisions. Whether or not he is "wrong" or "right", he is in fact depended on by plenty of lower and middle class families, thus many would call our president a hero. However, heroes could also be viewed as people who have accomplished something great. Perhaps not a benefit for the rest of the world, but the achievement in itself is what labels them as heroes. For example, if I were to think of a hero as someone whose accomplished something great, then I'd call Christopher Nolan a hero. I'm interesting in media, and Christopher Nolan (director of a handful of great films) would one of my heroes. Someone whose name comes to mind when I think of brilliant directors.
I don't really have many specific heroes. When a hero comes to mind I just think of the many, mostly nameless people that are dedicating themselves to something greater than themselves. People who are thinking of the well being of the world and of others before they think of themselves. That's a hero to me.
A hero is anyone who does something that appeals to you very well. Lets say this is the point of view of a mass murderer. His hero is probably someone who has killed millions. The policeman's hero might be a solider who is very famous has a medal of honor and was on seal team 6. Some people have heros because it helps them create a model for what they strive to be and without that they become lost and not sure what to do. Others don't seem to have heros because they tend to be more independent people who create their own path in life. Society tends to label heros as people who have either helped the town or city a lot, or preformed some feat that is worth acknowledging. If there is a man who jumps in the way of a car and pushes an old lady out of the way so she doesn't get hit then he will most likely be viewed as a hero by society. Or if a man captures a lot of criminals over time, he too will be viewed and advertised as a hero.
A hero is someone who is a role model. Hero's tend to have people who look up to him. I mean, what little kid doesn't want to be superman, he is a ideal role model. Sure the super powers aren't real, but the way he uses them to save people is what makes him a role-model. Some people need a hero. Some people are in a place where they feel stuck. Like a teenager who lives in east LA, he might feel like he is stuck being surrounded by all this crime and poverty. His hero might be someone who made it out.
A hero is a person who has great courage and bravery. There are many types of heroes. Superheroes, everyday heroes, and worldwide heroes. A hero must have certain qualities such as courage and the ability to be able to believe in yourself. Not every hero is strong or has super powers. The heroes that save lives and cities have powers but the ones that lead a city or a town out of danger lack super powers or maybe any strengths at all. But they all believe that they can do anything that they put their minds to. For example, in the Dark Knight Rises, Batman is a hero who doesn't have powers. He has very strong armor and all of the best fighting equipment but under all the high tec equipment, he's just a regular multi-billionaire. Also in the Dark Knight Rises. Every police officer is a hero. They put their lives on the line to protect the City of Gotham. People and places need heroes because they get the job done. Whenever there is trouble or a problem, a hero can do something about it. When most of society hears the word hero, they think of Superman, Spiderman, Batman, Ironman, etc..., but there is more to a hero than just superpowers. I don't have a hero.
A hero is a savior. A savior of something important enough to mean something. To me, a hero needs to be willing to sacrifice anything to achieve the goal that matters most to him/her: the goal of saving someone, or something. A hero needs something deep inside, something that becomes the definition of who he/she is. A hero is not all that is shown up front. Some have had pasts that could not be understood by just anybody. People need heroes because not everyone sees through the eyes of the scarred, the more experienced. For anyone not to have a hero, they must be one themselves. Society labels people of the army as today's heroes, but to me, this is not all the truth. People of the army fight to protect us, but each and all have personal reasons, and that is what makes them heroes, not the fighting itself. For me, I only have one hero, one person to see the world in a different way than others. Someone who understands the truth of the world. My hero is myself.
In my opinion a hero is someone who can do the impossible. A superhero of some sort. Or a war hero. Someone who can do the thing that is needed to be done when there is non hope or help left. He has to be good. No bad qualities. For example, a soldier whom family has had a history with the military,(or not doesn't really matter) and is in the middle of a ferocious fight. He gets shot in the thy and his buddy gets shot in the chest right in the middle of everything. He crawls his way over get shot multiple times and drags his friend back. They both are alive and well today with a couple of bone fractures due to the bullets. He has to be brave. Strong like an ox. Someone that would do anything for any type of good. Saves someone and at the same time stops the bad guy. When a true hero is publicized he says one of those on liners like "I just had to do what I needed to do". He is never says "yup that's me (flexes muscles) saved those kids from the fire."I don't have a hero. I have never been in a situation where some one has needed to save me. If anything my heroes would be the men and women who serve and protect our country, they deserve more than they get.
A hero is a role model. A hero must show everyone how to become someone that you wish to become. People need heroes to get them out of the gutter. The people that don't have heroes are lost, no direction. Society labels heroes the way that they see them not the way the general public sees them. My hero is Peter Thiel that is running an entrepreneurship option for smart kids to skip college and get paid 100,000 dollars a year to work on scientific and technical innovations.
A hero is a person who can either save someone's life or do something that benefits another human in a positive way. Heroes don't have to necessarily do something for you, you can only possibly see them do the task and consider them your hero or at least a hero. Heroes tend to have the qualities similar to a parent, friend, or sibling. Those qualities would have to be the following: Caring, friendly, bravery, and sometimes even soft-spoken. A hero has to definitely be a person that you could look up to in way where you want to do the same things as him to make yourself be a hero. I personally feel that people need heroes because not everyone can do things on their own, they sometimes need the help to make it through that rough situation. I guarantee that everyone will experience a hard time in their life. Others may seem to not have heroes because they either are one them self or that they feel that they don't need a hero in their life. I think that people are just stubborn if they don't feel like they need a hero in their life. I would have to say that society labels people that help children in need as heroes. I think this because those people are doing hero like things. I have more than one hero, my heroes are my parents. My parents do anything and everything of my liking. That is why I consider my parents my hero
A hero is someone who is willing to make change, someone who isn't afraid to risk their lives. A hero is just, brave, and a normal person that has become something different because they have gone above what others do. Some people need heroes because they are too weak to save themselves or they need someone to save them, or just someone to tell them its not the end. Others don't have heroes because they think they are too strong for heroes or maybe they just live perfect lives. But, sometimes heroes are not always called heroes. Society calls soldiers, firefighters, police, Peace Corps and people like Obama and Oprah. They make big changes and risk their lives on a daily basis. I don't have one person I would call a hero but people who are strong enough to stand on their own. Those single mothers, people who rise above the influence and change the world one step at time. My hero is a doctor who travels to country with tuberculosis and doesn't worry about themselves just their patient.
I think that a hero is someone who gives of themselves in a situation that isn't always necessary. This could anything from rescuing a child from a burning building, to simply being an everyday hero by giving up your time to help a friend work on a project. In both of those situations, the person did not need to do those acts, but did them anyway out of the goodness of their hearts. Everyone is capable of being a hero to someone. Even standing by a person when they are going through a difficult situation could be very heroic. There are also super heroes, the ones written about in books, and seen on TV, the people who eat kryptonite and find the power to fly or have super strength. These heroes typically use their powers to save towns from their arch-nemesis who are always doing something evil. These magical people don't exist in real life, but in desperate times, an everyday hero could become a superhero, like the moms who lift cars off their children. All these heroes have the qualities of courage, determination, selflessness, and kindness. If they do not have these qualities they would not do these heroic acts. Some people have heroes because they want someone to look up to, someone who they strive to be like. This often gives people hope. On the other hand, others do not have heroes because they either aren't searching to mirror someone else's accomplishments, or they could think that they are better than the people they could look up to. The problem with that is that what you want to do is based on what someone has done in the past, so you should "look" to them for advice. Society has labeled particular people as heroes, such as Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman, and Rosa Parks. These people were all fighting for the rights of African Americans, and had to undergo many hardships, and work hard for equal rights even though it meant endangering themselves. They did very good things for the world, and they are definitely heroes to society, but they are very large cases, society doesn't recognize the everyday heroes like it should. Individuals may have other heroes, but less because of the good things they did, and more about what they are good at like baseball players could be to young boys, or veterinarians could be to young girls. Personally my hero is fairly generic, and the same as many other people's. I really look up to Martin Luther King Jr., I wish I could do something as important and life changing for millions of people, and make such an impact.
